Inventories - Observations and Predictions

In my 31 years of selling Real Estate this is probably the lowest inventory of active listings I have ever seen. Is this a trend or just a cycle?
The mitigating factors at play appear to lean towards this being a trend. Not only are we seeing prospective buyers vocalizing their desire to find a home that they can stay in for 20 plus years, we also have the notable influx of foreign buyers whose cultural mindset is to buy and hold for the long term; even longer than the typical North American average. I continually hear dialogue that anything purchased will be handed down several generations. Coupled with this is the obvious physical geographical limitations that have been Vancouver's challenge, both positive and negative depending on which side of the table you’re on.
There will always be property to buy in Vancouver, but I believe we will see low inventories as the new norm and as we all know, the effect this has on pricing.

Support the REALTORS Care Blanket Drive and Help Your Neighbours in Need

The 21st annual REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive kicks off on November 16. The program is the Lower Mainland’s largest and longest-running blanket drive. Each year, the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive provides warm clothing and blankets to more than 19,000 Lower Mainland residents in need. From November 16 to 23, volunteer Realtors across the region will work with their clients to coordinate donations of blankets and warm winter clothing for those most in need. The donations are then sorted and delivered to charities in the same community in which they were collected. Anyone with donations can drop them off at one of our 100 plus participating real estate offices. Click here for a list of participating offices.

Since the Blanket Drive began in 1995, the program has helped more than 275,000 people in our communities keep warm and dry during the winter months.
